The LMLA First Step Toward Leadership learning series Appreciation Ceremony was held on June 10, 2009 to recognize those students who successfully completed the Spring 2009 series. Julian Lewis, Director of Workforce Diversity, was the keynote speaker. Other special guests were also on hand to award all students who attended the majority of sessions with continuing education credit certificates: Orville Prins (VP India Campaign), Glenn Weissinger (VP Strategic Planning), June Shrewsbury (EVP Company Integration), and Jack Lambert (Director for Labor Relations and LMLA Board of Directors).

Students who were awarded certificates included Patricia Alva-Green, Leigh Batten, Shane Boyle, Angela Cauthorn, Josie Delaune, Scott Dobbs, Michele Dorfman, Samuel Elam, Peter Falterer, Susan Floyd, Michael Gilson, Thomas David Harman, Helen Holland, Venetia Jones, George Judkins, Diana Kirkwood, Alan Lulla, Felicia Matthews, Cherie Mazurowski, Stephen Needler, Julia Pietrasik, Cody Sicking, Jacob Thye, Jeff Ward, Jeremy Westbrooks, and William Wyrick.

The LMLA learning series is a "brown bag event" held during employees' lunchtime breaks. The series features executive level guest speakers from every function within Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. Each speaker provides an overview of their organization, shares ideas regarding successful leadership skills and traits, provides advice for personal and professional development, and discusses how to put Full Spectrum leadership into action every day. The 2009 series also highlighted the importance of connecting and engaging all employees to ensure future business success.
