Chapter Speech Contest Candidate Search should begin immediately after the first of the year, with chapter contest scheduled two week prior to Council Competition.

  • January – Board Chair selects committee
  • February – Newsletter Article to General Membership seeking nominations
  • March – Member Selection – Completes NMA Nomination Form
  • April – Submit Nomination form to NMA Headquarters

Member Recognition NMA Silver Knight
LMLA Board of Directors

  • Submitted to NMA Headquarters - 60 Days Prior to Presentation
  • December – Board Chair Select Committee Members
  • March – Silver Knight - Seek Nominations from Chapter President and Board

Prepare Nomination Letter to NMA President (can be presented at any time during the year) • Silver Eagle – Seek nominations from the membership

NMA Manager of the Year

  • Submitted to NMA Headquarters- 60 Days Prior to Presentation
  • First Full Week in June
  • December – Board Chair selects committee members
  • January – Article in Chapter Publication seeking nominees from general membership
  • February – Committee Meets and prepares letters to nominees notifying them that they have been nominated as LMLA Manager of the Year and ask nominees to complete nomination form with desired information.
  • March - Committee meets to review nomination forms submitted by nominees for down select of Manager of the Year and coordinated names of nominees with Company VP of communications.
  • April – Manager of the Year notified by Committee Chair, Board Chair and Chapter President
  • Coordinate Presentation Event
  • Order Plaque
  • Schedule Event with recipient

  • Submitted to NMA Headquarters Monthly

Scholarships
LMLA Board of Directors

  • December – Chair selects Scholarship Committee Member (LMLA Members)
  • January – Scholarship Packets assembled – Message released about LMLA Scholarship Program and Packages made available for pickup
  • March (mid) – Due Date for Package Submittal to LMLA Office or coordination point
  • March (end) – Committee review packets and select top candidates (some quantity based on total received)
  • April (mid –end) – Committee Notify top candidates and schedule top candidates for personal interviews
  • May – Top "5" candidates selected based on ALL criteria and notified
  • June – "5" Scholarship Winners Recognized @ General Membershp Meeting
  • June (end) – Checks mailed to Scholarship Winners school of choice

Membership Drive

  • Schedule two membership drives annually!
  • Note – Membership should be ongoing throughout the year

Nomination Committee

  • January – Chair selects nominating committee members (LMLA Members)
  • February – Present at least 6 nominees to Board for Approval
  • March – Nominees Presented to General Membership for vote
  • March (end) – 3 Directors elected by General Membership (remaining 3 held as alternates)
  • April – Board of Directors including 3 new directors elect Chairman of the Board for the next year

  • Present Recommendations to the Board of Directors

By-Laws Committee

  • Select Committee Members (if applicable)
  • Review of By-Laws Anually
  • Incorporate any Resolutions that were approved by the Board of Directors in the previous year and redistribute at the beginning of the new administration.
  • Record any new resolutions approved by the Board of Directors throughout the year

Financial Report and Budget
VP of Finance

  • Budget – Presented at the beginning of the administrative year
  • Financial Report presented at each board meeting
  • Mid Year Review of Budget
  • Audit conducted at the end of each year
